Kofi's Trial

Historic Hudson Valley

Funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities, and alongside Historic Hudson Valley, Blue Telescope unearthed the story of the New York Conspiracy of 1741, an insurrection by enslaved individuals and poor whites with a plan to level Manhattan by fire.

Combing through historic documents, unreliable testimonies, and focusing on giving voice to the voiceless, this digital graphic novel tells the story of Kofi, an enslaved man put on trial for conspiracy.

The novel not only tells the tale, but also offers videos and articles from historians and questions the reader on their thoughts and feelings about the event recounted.
